I've had many acting teachers in the past and I was never able to find what I was looking for, honesty in acting. I always felt like it was me "acting" in a scene. But, all that changed with First Take! Nancy's unique techniques have taught me just to be me in different situations and that I was enough, that I didn't have to act powerful or force any emotions, if it's there and you did your homework, it'll be there for the scene. And she has such an amazing eye to know if something is missing in a scene! It's truly amazing watching her coach the other students. You learn so much from watching other scenes.
This is so different from the other classes I have taken in the past. I was also told by another acting teacher when I wanted to take a Film Acting class after a visiting casting director told me she was looking for Asian actresses, especially Japanese to cast roles for "Memoires of a Geisha" that it wouldn't happen to me. A year later, I was asked to read for the two main roles and I had no acting experience for film just commercials. I vowed then to never take an acting class from a teacher that didn't believe in me. I found that in Nancy and more! And thanks to her amazing teaching and encouragement, I now have my chance on the silver screen!
